Kalachakra Tantra is the highest class of tantra. It is called 'clear tantra '. This means that its place, its action, its symbolism, the method of practice are clearly explained in various texts. After receiving the initiation given by Shakyamuni Buddha, the King of Shambala Suchandra wrote "the Kalachakra Tantra." Then "Tantra light" and his commentary was written by generations following this King.
These last two Sanskrit texts remained known until our time. They have been studied and practiced in Tibet from the 10th century.
The Kalachakra Tantra explains how external elements cosmology, astrology, calendar, including the operation time:
- internal elements breaths, channels, energy.
- initiation, including construction of the mandala.
- practices of the generation and completion stage.
We know through science that our universe is composed of five elements: water, earth, fire, air and space. But such knowledge is not really new. They were developed by Buddha. He has explained in this tantra. (Sixth element is added in Kalachakra, the deep wisdom).
The universe operates through the combination and balance of these elements. Our body works the same way. Our bodies are composed of these elements, and it is easy for us to verify that an imbalance between these elements makes us sick, and can lead us to death . And this universe, we observe the same phenomenon, and now humanity has become aware that care must be taken to preserve our planet.
We also observe that the action of humanity affects the elements of our world. All these karmas created affect the karmic winds of the universe. There is a connection between the karmic winds of the universe, and karmic winds of humans and animals.
Our physical and mental function uses the same components as our world.
Meditating on this subject, our relationship with the world becomes more intimate because we feel this affinity between humans, other living beings, our planet, and even the universe.
We recognize their emptiness and ours.
In this perfect world that emerges, the elements are in common:
- earth and air: yellow and black
- water and fire element: red and white.
- space and consciousness, green and blue
In doing so, we get pacified and we become calmer. This peace radiates around us, first in our surroundings, then in a larger world. It change our karma of our surroundings and finally the elements of this world.

Humans, animals and their environment are critically unbalanced throughout the world. In the Kalachakra mandala Buddha taught how to balance these disharmonies.
The Kalachakra practice purifies the six elements - earth, water, fire, air, space and gnosis - within the individual and the environment.
Kalachakra practice transforms these elements from their ordinary disharmonious state, ninto their pure state of harmony, a union of unchangeable bliss and empty form.
